Recreational activities to promote healthy living

Recreation is incredibly important for the physical and mental well-being of young people. So the focus of this program is to provide opportunities to participate in activities that promote healthy living. By providing opportunities for young people to engage in fun and healthy activities, we can help them build lifelong habits that will support their overall health and well-being/ We offer the following:

Yoga

The organization will over twenty (20) female students ages 12-17 yoga classes at the organization offices in Tukwila. The first classes will begin in December 2023 and be held twice a month. The program will grow in participants each year to thirty (30) kids in 2024, forty (40) in 2025 and fifty kids in 2026. A certified yoga teacher will be conducting the classes. The classes are free to the students.

Nutritional Classes

The organization will teach students how to cook and prepare nutritional meals. The program is taught twice a month for 2 hours and open to all ages. It includes one hour of nutritional education and 1 hour of kitchen cooking time. The activity is taught by a volunteer of the organization. The activity is held at the organization’s offices in Tukwila, Washington.

Poetry and Frisbee

The organization will offer poetry reading and frisbee activities for boys and girls. The first hour of the two-hour event will be a time for students to share a spoken poem and the 2nd hour play frisbee outdoors. This event will be facilitated by a volunteer of the organization at the organization’s offices in Tukwila, Washington.

Soccer

The organization intends to create a soccer team in 2024. The team will be open to the public including around twenty (20) youth in South King County for a leisure soccer team. This event will be facilitated by a volunteer of the organization at the organization’s offices in Tukwila, Washington.

This program will begin in 2024.
